<p>The force measurement transducer uses a force tube and a balance mechanism associated with a resonant circuit, which produces an electronic signal with a frequency dependent on the force concerned. The mechanism consists of a rod (5) mounted inside a torque or force tube (2) one end of which is attached to a rigid wall (1). The rod extends through the wall to a sprung balance mechanism (7, 8, 9) which is in turn connected to a wire (10). The tension in this affects the resonant frequency of an oscillator which feeds a coil (12, 13) associated with the wire (10). An alternative form may use a piezoelectric crystal (14), instead of the tension wire.</p> |
