Call allotting system for telephone exchange - drops long waiting low priority calls in favour of higher priority calls

The call allotting and stacking system, for a telephone exchange, allots calls by considering priority and waiting time. Incoming calls are assigned a priority and held in call and waiting registers in the order in which they arrive. They are read out of the registers in the same order as they were written in. The object of the invention is to give higher-rated calls priority over lower-rated calls by limiting the latter's waiting time to a maximum. This is achieved by dividing the call memory into segments and by allowing different segments to handle different priority calls. Long-waiting lower-rated calls are given priority only until a minimum time is reached between the longest-waiting call with a higher priority and the longest-waiting lower priority call.
