Continuous annealing of metal wire by resistance heating - where moving electric contacts avoid excessive wear on contact surfaces

Device for continuous recrystallisation of annealing metal wire, esp. Cu and Al, after wire-drawing, by resistance heating, has contacts fitted with interchangeable carbon, graphite or Cu electrodes exerting a prescribed pressure on the moving wire. The electrodes are moved periodically or continuously at 90 degrees to the direction of wire travel so that the electrode wear occurs uniformly over the entire contact surfaces. The electrode movement can be achieved using a work cylinder.
