The windscreen wiper motor drives the wipers via a worm drive with a spiral thread at the end of the motor drive shaft (13). The shaft is mounted between two bearings. One bearing is formed by a sliding fitting (12) around the shaft, and located in a bearing sleeve. The free end of the shaft is braced on a ball bearing (22) and held against a screw thread adjuster (19) to take up slack. The end of the adjuster and the end of the shaft have recesses(20, 18) to locate the ball. The adjuster recess is formed by a profiled lip. The recesses provide lateral stability to the shaft and make a third bearing superfluous. |
