The mechanical and electrical network is for measuring accurately the fuel flow to an internal combustion engine, typically a diesel, equipped with excess fuel feedback. The fuel flows from the fuel tank (11) to the measurement device (23) and thence through a pipe (12) to a low pressure pump (13), a high pressure pump (17) and a valve inlet (19) in that order. Any excess fuel is delivered back not to the tank (11), but to an auxiliary reservoir (24) inside the fuel measurement device (23). The flow of this device from the tank thus represents accurately the rate of fuel consumption by the engine. A number of chambers, pumps, valves, a float (45) and associated switches and electronic logic networks (32, 36) are included.
|
