1464809 Milling H PUTSCH & CO 15 Oct 1975 [16 Oct 1974] 42148/75 Heading B3K A milling device for producing cutting chamfers 2, 3 on knives 1 having roof-shaped cutting edges comprises an arbor 4 on which is clamped a milling tool 6 whose cutting edges 5 are adapted to the cutting chamfers 2, 3, and at least one further milling tool 7 mounted on the arbor so as to be non-rotatable relative thereto but freely axially movable to a limited extent, the mutually-facing sides of the milling tools having protrusions 9 and recesses 8 at least in the region of their cutting edges, the protrusions on one tool extending into the recesses in the other for producing alternating overlapping of the cutting edges of the tool. The milling tools 6, 7 are substantially identical with the exception that the bore of the tool 7 is larger than that of the tool 6. Each tool, as described, has fine double cutting edges S and the adjacent faces each have four protrusions 9 and four recesses 8. The tool 7 is clamped against a flange 11 of a sliding sleeve 10 by a nut 12, and the sleeve 10 is mounted for axial but not rotary movement on a clamping sleeve 13 which, by way of a nut 14 clamps the tool 6 against a washer 15 or collar 16 on the arbor 4. A tongue- and-groove arrangement N permits axial sliding of the sleeve 10 on the clamping sleeve 13 between a flange 17 and the tool 6. The protrusions and recesses permit overlapping of the cutting edges and the free axial movement of the tool 7 accommodates variation in pitch of the cutting edges of the knives. There may be further cutting tools 7 on each side of the tool 6 and more than one tool on one side of the tool 6. |
