The variable reluctance generator has a main flux path formed by the stator and rotor, and containing a first element acting as a parasitic air gap with constant reluctance and a second element acting as an active air gap with a reluctance dependent on the position of the rotor. The two elements are constructed so that the second element's flux density is always greater than that of the first element, i.e. the active second element is saturated before the first element. A probe produces an output voltage dependent on the variable flux in the active air gap.
|
