<p>There is a double rail track (1) supported on stirrups. Above the track, fixed to the stirrups (5) is a support (6) on which is fitted a hydraulic brake (7) of normal design. This has an output shaft carrying a swinging arm (9). On this arm are brackets (13) bearing two freely running rollers (10), (11) just above the track (1) and around the carriage body part (4). When the carriage reaches a given speed near the brake the carriage rollers (2), (3) contact the rollers (10), (11) and the hydraulic brake acts on the carriage to slow it down. this force is constant, independent of car load.</p> |
