1464744 Selective signalling; theft alarms H P VINET 7 Oct 1974 [5 Oct 1973] 43416/74 Headings G4H and G4N A workshop installation for checking, servicing and repairing e.g. vehicles, household equipment &c., includes at least one enclosure to which coresponds a pre-payment device which controls, as a function of time spent, one or more electrical warning circuits and a mechanism for locking a barrier situated at the entrance to the enclosure, the enclosure containing tools and equipment which are subject to presence detectors which are connected to one or more electrical warning circuits and to the mechanism for locking the barrier. The presence detectors for small tools are switches actuated when the tool is returned to a tool-shaped depression in a tool board, to detect attempts to leave the enclosure without replacing the tools in the board. The switches may be mechanical or reed-relays or respond to the weight of the tool. Attempts to remove larger items are detected in that it would require severing of wires e.g. in power cables for the items. These two types of attempts give separate alarms at a central station, which also includes occupied/empty indicators for the enclosures, time out indicators, barrier control buttons, telephone facilities for talking to the people in the enclosures, &c. In the vehicle application, lifting ramps and pits in the enclosures may have arrays of contacts on the ground to detect incorrect positioning of the vehicle as it approaches and light direction signs. The ramp or a covering panel for the pit may be controlled in accordance with the vehicle position for safety.
