<p>1464481 Animal waste odour treatment FMC CORP 8 Aug 1975 [12 Aug 1974] 33115/75 Heading C1C A process for simultaneously controlling the: odour and increasing the plant nutrient value of an animal waste slurry comprises contacting said slurry with 5 to 500 p.p.m. hydrogen peroxide as an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution based on 100% hydrogen peroxide; adjusting the pH of the slurry to between 4À0 and 8À0 with a mineral acid selected from phosphoric, sulphuric or nitric acid or mixtures thereof; mixing the slurry until the odour is no longer objectionable; and recovering a treated animal waste slurry containing increased amounts of ammonium salts selected from ammonium phosphate salts, ammonium sulphate salts, and ammonium nitrate. Wastes treated include horse, cattle, goat and swine wastes, poultry wastes, and fresh and stored waste accumulations. The treated slurry may be spread as a fertilizer.</p> |
