The work is carried out with at least one row of dye nozzles which extends transversely to the direction of movement of the sheet-like textile structure, which can be a web of carpet material, pressurised jets of dye liquor issuing continuously from the dye nozzles. Each jet of dye liquor is directed either onto the sheet-like structure or away from this according to the pattern to be produced and according to the speed of movement of the sheet-like textile structure. By means of data blocks with pattern data, the selective deflection of each of the jets of dye liquor within successive cycles is controlled. Each cycle is initiated by the movement of the sheet-like textile structure over a distance corresponding to the pattern fineness. Within each cycle, the directing of each jet of dye liquor onto the sheet-like textile structure takes place only during a predetermined time interval which is followed by a rest time. During this rest time, which is at least as long as the recovery time of the dye-liquor jet deflection device composed of the air-supply lines (62) and of the solenoid valves (64), all the jets of dye liquor are directed away from the sheet-like textile structure. The proposed spray-printing process is also suitable for the printing of fine or complicated patterns.

|
