<p>1428184 Polyamides BAYER AG 12 June 1973 [4 Oct 1972] 27852/73 Heading C3R The anionic polymerization of a mixture comprising at least one lactam containing at least 5 ring members, an alkaline catalyst and an activator is effected in the presence of a lactaminsoluble polyalkylene glycol having unmodified end groups and a molecular weight from 20,000 to 35,000. The polyglycol may be a polymer of ethylene and/or propylene glycol and may be used in an amount of 0À2 to 15, preferably 0À4 to 3 wt. per cent. Various suitable catalyst and activators are specified. Conventional adjuvants may also be used such as M.W. regulators, e.g. butylacetamide; pigments or dyes, e.g. carbon black, TiO 2 or phthalocyanines; plasticizers; mould releasers; fillers, e.g. glass fibres or spheres, asbestos, CaCO 3 or bentonite; flame proofers, e.g. red phosphorus, organic Ha compounds, phosphate esters or metal oxides; and blowing agents, e.g. azides or hydrocarbons.
