<p>1439703 Suspended staging; bridges S L FISHER 14 Sept 1973 [18 Sept 1972] 43248/73 Headings E1G and E1S A staging or walkway bridge 10 which may, as shown, be connected between two suspended cradles 14, comprises a plurality of sections 12 each including a rectangular decking 18 on a rigid lower support framework 20, the sections being hingedly connected end-to-end at the decking level at at 22, and flexible cables being connected tautly longitudinally of the staging or bridge 10 beneath the frames 20, whereby the staging or bridge is prevented from sagging at its centre but may bow upwardly in the event of striking an obstacle on being lowered. As shown, the support frame 20 of each section is generally triangular and has at each side at its lower apex a clamp 76 holding the centre of a cable section 24 extending the length of the staging section, the cable sections being coupled end-to-end at 80. The frame 20 also has at each side a socket 50 to receive a post 52 supporting a hand-rail 54. Special brackets 90 and handrail units 60 are attached at the ends of the staging 10 for mounting on the cradles 14.</p> |
