<p>1480809 Packing apparatus A LIPES 6 Nov 1974 [6 Dec 1973] 47980/74 Heading B8C In a device 10 for holding plastics bags 11 of the type having an extended tab 12 secured to a sidewall 13 adjacent mouth 14, the foremost bag of a stack held on pins 16 is opened by an air jet from duct 19 so that a hinged plate 52 may be pivotally lowered into the mouth 14, thereby pulling forward the front wall and causing the sides of tab 12 to be inserted in holding means 33. After filling, plate 52 is raised and the device 10 is laterally displaced by cylinders 50 to transfer the bag to a heatsealing station, the bag only being released after reciprocable sealing bars have closed the bag and tab 12 has been severed. The remaining tab is then released. Device 10 has a U-shaped frame 30 interconnecting two holding means 33 each comprising a clamp plate 35 pivoted at 34 on a corner of frame 30. The tab 12 is gripped between a head 39 and surface 40 of each plate 35, and during the lateral shift of the filled bag, plates 35 are pivoted outwardly by cylinders 42 to align tab 12 with the front wall 32 of frame 30. By this means a wrinklefree seal is possible.</p> |
