Electro-plating from a bath comprising in g/l; Au 2.5-7.5 (as KAu(CN)2), Co 4-6 (as Co citrate), citric acid 20-80 (as Na citrate) and optionally H 3 BO 3 10-25 and having pH 3.6-4.5 is used to provide the coating. A Co content of 1-4% is optional. Plating at 55‹C using a c.d. of 1.5 A/dm2 is specified.
