1468419 Floors B KULLBERG and B SUNDSTROM 20 Dec 1974 [20 Dec 1973] 55206/74 Heading E1W A floor comprises porous slabs 4 laid on a level foundation and provided across their upper surface with inset stringers 10 rigidly connected to the slabs and flush with or inset below the upper surface of the slabs, and elongate flooring surface elements 6 extending transversely across the stringers 10 and rigidly connected thereto. Damp proof membrane may be laid below or above the slabs 4 which may be of cellular plastics or mineral wool. The slabs may be adhered together at their butting edges. The stringers may be of wood bonded with channels in the slabs by asphalt, the channels may be undercut and the stringers of trapezoidal section. Alternatively the stringers may be formed by casting a settable material into the channels to which the surface panels 6 may be nailed or adhered. In a further alternative U-section channels of metal or plastics may be pressed into the upper face of the slabs so that the channel web is flush with the slab surface. The panels 6 may be timber or particle board adhered at a butt joint or tongued and grooved. Transverse stringers may be provided to bridge the joints between adjacent slabs 4. |
