The device has at least one drive element (10) which changes in volume with changes in temperature. The motion thereby produced is transmitted to a movable member (18) whose working section is constructed to cover the relevant heat exchange surface. The drive and restoration produce the temperature differences of the drive element (10) between the halting and operating periods of the heating unit (25). The device is particularly suitable for heat exchangers (20-22) having mutually parallel longitudinal slots in which there engages in each case a prong (24), which scrapes on both sides, or a brush of the fork-shaped member (18). The device improves the heat transfer of the heat exchange surface, and this permanently maintains the efficiency of the system at its maximum. <IMAGE> |
