The bogie for railway vehicles has wheel sets each with two wheels on a common axle. The wheel sets are able to follow rocking displacements and the wheel sets are connected so that lateral movements of one wheel set are transmitted in the opposite sense to another wheel set. Elastic elements are provided for transmitting loads to wheel sets. Elastic elements have lateral stiffness at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the bogie which is lower than the stiffness in the direction parallel to the longitudinal axis. These elastic elements are arranged between the axle bearings (18) and a load carrying frame (16) as flexible assemblies (22). The upper and lower end of such an assembly has a curved shape.
