Underground handling unit for elongated sections - has support spar with end flange on which sections are stacked parallel to spar

Handling unit is used to transport stacks of U-shaped elongated sections for the construction of underground galleries. The unit comprises a carrier spar (2) with a transverse cup-shaped end flange (3) on which the sections can be stacked either side of a parallel to the spar. The other end of the spar has e.g. an eyelet (21) to facilitate handling the unit. A clamping bridge (13) is positioned movably on the spar between the eyelet and the end flange and has inner angled walls which conform to the slope of the section outer walls (5a). The handling unit enables stacks of sections to be transported readily in compact form.
