IC engine with conical rotary valves - has double inlet ports directing airstream outside core of fuel injected air

The engine has a conical valve rotating in the cylinder head and is provided with two inlet and two exhaust ports. The inlet ports (32, 34) direct the air flow through holes (28, 30) in the conical valve (22). Air flowing through one port (34) has passed through the carburettor where it has been injected with fuel. The air entering through the port (32) is free of fuel. The air and fuel mixture is directed towards the centre of the cylinder (12) whereas the stream of pure air is directed towards the cylinder walls. This arrangement of air flows gives better engine performance on weak mixtures.
