<p>A duct for air conditioning, has sides made up from pairs of insulating panels, with an asbestos content, held apart from each other. Both the outer (15) and the inner (16) insulating panels are lined inside with metal foil (19), foil may be cemented to the panels by a non-combustible water glass adhesive. The panels may be made of asbestos silicate, and their adjoining edges may be sealed with a capping of fire-resistant putty, preferably of water glass adhesive with an asbestos silicate filler. Without using space-filling insulating materials, the air duct is stable, and highly fire-resistant, checking the speed of fires into rooms through which it passes.</p> |
