Pressure reducing valve for liquid after live steam injection - designed to prevent contamination of the sterile liquid

The equipment sterilises liq. by injecting live steam in lime. After the steam has been injected the liq. flows through a press. reducing valve into an expansion vessel. The reducing valve is operated by a spindle which extends through the wall to the outside. The spindle is mounted in the high press. side of the valve body. The valve opens in the flow direction. The spindle seal incorporates a chamber with an inlet for hot water of steam and an outlet for water or condensate. The press. in the chamber remains below that at the sterile liq. It is used for sterilising liqs. esp. milk. Any leakage along the spindle is outwards so that contamination by ingress of non sterile air is eliminated. As the valve is opened, part of the spindle enters the sterile liq. This part was previously in contact with steam or hot water in the seal chamber so it is sterile. Thus there is no contamination of the liq. as its press. is reduced.
