Sealing lip for butterfly damper - has removable ring carrying elastic lip in annular groove of flap permiter

The butterfly damper is mounted in a tube housing with a flap rotatable by 90 degrees. The flap (6) is provided with a removable ring (5) on the permiter fixed to the flap body by screws (7) and holding in position an elastic lip (4). The lip rests against a ring-shaped groove provided on the enlarged thickness (2) of the housing wall (1). The groove is so deep, that in the closed position of the flap an air gap between the tip of the elastic lip and the deepest point of the groove section remains. The ring-shaped air gap can be connected at one point to a suction line. Alternatively the gap can be set under the effect of a pressurized cooling medium.
