The device has at least one filtration vessel filled with a filter medium on a support. The filtration space is connected to the outlet through slot shaped openings. According to the novelty, the filter medium is supported on granular material in the bottom of the vessel. Distributor pipes having perforated walls are located in the supporting medium and form the outlet from the filter. The cost of the filter bed is reduced by the absence of a reinforced concrete support plate with basket-type filters attached to perforations through the concrete. The resistance to flow through the outlet system is lower than in conventional filter beds.
