The attachment is driven by a hand electric power tool, and ensures clean working of the material without splintering. The handpiece (1) can be provided with bores for receiving a guide screw (4) in a guide groove (8 or 9), a ram (6) and a camshaft member (11). An infinitely adjustable locking screw (3) can be advanced so that the tool holder (10) stops on return of the ram and limits ram movement, to obtain finer vibration. If the guide screw is loosened off and the ram is turned through 180 deg., one guide groove (9) which is oblique imparts slight rotation to the ram during advance, causing the tool to remove shavings during carving.
