To maintain the armouring continuity when plastics insulated cable with armouring is used with synthetic resin bonded jointing boxes, the armouring is terminated in a special sleeve outside the joint box and joined with a separate lead to the other cable. The armouring wires (7) are exposed, bent round a locating ring (8) and secured with a band (9). A continuity cable (17) is also joined to the ring. A sleeve (13) with annular ridges (5) is placed over the cable end (4) and sealed with a ring (14) at the outer end. The inner end fits into the cable box entry (1) where it is sealed with a gasket (3). When in position the space inside the sleeve is filled with a casting resin. The continuity cable emerges through a suitable outlet (16). The ridges (5) stiffen the sleeve and locate the resin filling.
