The log transporter has lateral support arms (3) each with an extension hinged at its end. The extensions (4) swing inwards from an upright position, for loading into a position to clamp the load. Cables (6) are secured at the ends of the extensions and strung in a crossed layout to pulleys (8) under the chassis on the other side of the vehicle. As the cables are pulled in they are tightened around the stack of logs. The cables pull the logs down onto the chassis and increase the friction hold. Each end of the vehicle has separate cables so that the thinner end of the stack is securely held as well. The pulleys are swivelled and the cable ends are tightened by hydraulic rams.
|
