The cover is easily opened and closed and consists of a tubular mast, spokes over which the cover is spread, and compression rods which hold up the spokes, both spokes and rods being folded against the mast when the cover is not in use. The spokes are hinged on the head of a lifting tube which slides inside the tubular mast and the compression rods are fixed rigidly to the mast. A servo-motor operating on the lifting tube causes it to slide vertically inside the mast to extend or retract the cover.
