Dyeing esp. carpets at 20-60 degrees C is by (A) impregnating with a dye bath contg. 0.1-35 g/l foaming agent and/or wetting agent, and no thickener, (B) rolling up, and (C) rotating for 1-48 h.while fixing occurs. Levelness, dye penetration and colour differentiation between polyamide fibres with varied dyeing characteristics are ensured by movement of the dye liquor within the textile mass during fixing. Use of flammable and expensive alcohols, or of high acid concns. in the dye bath is avoided. No frosting effects or crushing occurs in dyeing of pile fabrics, e.g. velours and cut pile materias. Very clear differential effects are obtained with polyamides of varied types. Amount of water used in subsequent washing is much reduced. In an example, velour carpet of polyamide 6 is wetted with 250 wt. % dye liquor contg. 0.71 pts. mixt of C.I. Acid Orange, Red and Blue, 6 parts, sanddogen C-WF1 (RTM) 3 pts. mixt. of benzylalcohol, monophenyl glycol ether and 'Lyogen V' (RTM) and 2 pts. acetic acid, per 1000 pts. liquor. It is wound up and rotated for 18 h. rinsed and dried.
|
