<p>A granulator for molten thermoplastic resin discharged from an extrusion nozzle, is provided in known manner with a feed device supplied with cooling water, mounted upstream of a cutting roll, which in turn is directly downstream of a pair of feed rolls. The granulator is modified by providing at least one of these feed rolls with longitudinal i.e axially parallel, grooves to ensure that the extrusion is drawn into the roll knip. Advantageously, a reception launder is provided below the cutting roll and additional cooling water is supplied to this launder in the zone between the cutting roll and the bend of the launder. The cost of the equipment is reduced and the tendency of the extruded plastic to stick to the feed device is virtually eliminated.</p> |
