The pressure transducer for measuring fluid pressure in pipelines consists of a pair of Vee blocks (1) clamped to the outer case of the tube through which the medium is flowing. The blocks form part of a strain gauge measuring apparatus using electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic or mechanical transmission to operate a calibrated indicator unit (3, 4). Changes in pressure within the pipe are sensed as stresses in the tube walls. The pressure gauge requires no direct connection with the fluid medium in the tube and thus prevents inadvertent admission of air, loss of medium or contamination which could possibly occur with manometer-type instruments.
