Milling cutter for machining convex spherical surfaces - has circular hollow head with cutting and finshing inserts

The milling machine is used for machining spherical surfaces, especially for machining of workpieces of convex spherical shape. The milling cutter used has readily replaceable cutting inserts. The cutter ensures high precision in machining of spherical surfaces and it is readily adaptable for machining of convex spherical surfaces of different radii. Cutting inserts (4) with two effective cutting edges are uniformly spaced on the circumference. A finishing cutter is in contact with the spherical surface to be machined. The cutting surface is held on three sides. The basic body encloses a chip collection space with large chip removal openings (8).
