1464073 Positioning sheets for lamination J BOBST & FILS SA 31 Jan 1975 [22 Feb 1974] 4368/75 Heading B5N A reinforcing liner blank is positioned on a box blank by moving the box blank in one direction, moving and guiding the liner blank into surface-to-surface engagement with the box blank, and causing the blanks so engaged to shift relative to each other to achieve the desired position. As shown, box blanks 2 and corrugated liner blanks 8 are fed out of phase by devices 1, 1a and conveyers 3, 7 to double-belt conveyers 4, 9 respectively. The double-belt conveyers, which may move at different speeds, comprise belts 5, 6 and 10, 11, so disposed that belts 5, 11 bring the blanks into contact. Belt 10 is adjustable in length by rollers 13, 14. The blank 2 may be pre-folded on conveyer 4 and is preferably glued on leaving belt 6. Endless chains 16 are driven by toothed wheels 17, 20, 21 and are provided with series of lays 25, 26 (see Fig. 2) for contacting blanks 2, 8, respectively; whichever blank touches its lay first is restrained from further movement so that the other blank slides thereon until restrained by contacting its own lay. Lays 25 are connected to the chain 16 via axles 27, 30 and connecting rods 29. Lays 26 are similarly connected via axles 35, 39 and trapezoidal plates 33, which are bent at the bottom to define a track in which the position of lay 26 is adjustable relative to lay 25 (see Figs. 4-6, not shown). The belts 5, 11 are pressed together between adjustable rollers 42 and fixed rollers 43 (see Fig. 7). The rollers 42 are carried on a beam 46 which is suspended from braces 47, 48 whose position can be adjusted by a screw 51 (see Fig. 3, not shown). The positioned blanks may be subsequently folded and, if not already glued, may be connected together, e.g. by stitching. |
