<p>1497101 Coated linear polyester films IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 July 1976 [4 Aug 1975] 32487/75 Heading B2E A support film of a linear polyester, e.g. oriented and heat set polyethylene terephthalate, is coated with a copolymer comprising 3 to 25 mole % glycidyl acrylate or glycidyl methacrylate; 35 to 95 mole % of one or more esters of acrylic and methacrylic acid, e.g. methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, hexyl, heptyl, n-octyl and 2-ethylhexyl and 0.1 to 15 mole % of an acrylic or methacrylic monomer having a functional hydrophilic group, e.g. hydroxyethyl methacrylate or hydrolysed γ-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxy silane. The coating may also include a cross-linking agent, e.g. an epoxy resin, an alkyd resin and/or a condensation product of an amine and an aldehyde, e.g. a condensation product of melamine urea, diazine, cyclic ethylene urea, cyclic propylene urea, thiourea, cyclic ethylene thiourea, alkyl melamines, benzoguanamines, guanamines, alkyl guanamines and aryl guanamines with formaldehyde. A further coating comprising a thermoplastic or thermosetting acrylic lacquer, cellulose acetate butyrate, cellulose acetate propionate or a 0-80% hydrolysed polyvinylacetate lacquer.</p> |
