PURPOSE:To prevent damage to a recording medium and to eliminate necessity for moving an optical head by recording data to the recording medium while reducing the irradiation amount of a laser beam through an objective lens when the power of the laser beam is detected at the time of recording data in the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:By detecting the power of the laser beam from the optical head and keeping the output of the laser beam constant according to the detected power, output adjustment is executed while outputting the laser beam with the power corresponding to recording time from the optical head. Next, the power on a recording medium 1 is reduced rather than the recording time by a means to reduce the irradiation amount of the laser beam per unit area on the recording medium 1, and the power at the recording time is detected. Thus, the power at the recording time can be detected without moving the optical head and destroying the recording medium. |
