The mechanism is for laterally moving a load (4) on to or off a vehicle (2) and has two sets of lifting levers (1) placed at a distance in parallel planes, and each provided with a support leg (5) pivotable outwards from the outside of the vehicle. The supports (5) are pivotably carried in bearings (16) near the outside of the vehicle and are provided with a support face (5a) which extends over nearly the full length of the support. The support may have a support face (5b) at its free end capable of providing support on the ground. The supports may be pivotable by means of a cylinder actuator (17).
