<p>1509863 Door operating and locking mechanisms WAGGONFABRIK UERDINGEN AG WERK DUSSELDORE 2 Aug 1976 [2 Aug 1975] 19093/76 Heading E2M An operating and locking mechanism for a sliding plug door 2 comprises upper and lower rocking levers 4 carrying rollers 4a, 4b and secured to a spindle 5 rotatably journalled in a vertical door frame bearer 1a, upper and lower guide rails 3 (only the upper rail 3 and lever 4 are shown in the Fig.) mounted on the door 2 for co-operation with the rollers 4a, 4b, a power drive (16) (Fig. 1, not shown) for longitudinal displacement of the door 2, and an actuating drive 12 to effect outward and inward movement of the door 2 via a mechanism 7 coupled to the spindle 5, the mechanism 7 automatically locking the door 2 in its closed position. As shown, the mechanism 7 comprises a lever 8 secured to the spindle 5, and an intermediate lever 9 connected to the lever 8 and to an arm 10a of an angle lever 10, which is pivoted at a bearing 11 formed by a housing 6. The other arm 10b of the angle lever 10 is coupled to the actuating drive 12. The joint 21 between the lever 9 and arm 10a is held in an idle position when the door has been closed by means of a stop 22, thus locking the door. A manually actuated release lever 17 is provided, the lever 17 both cancelling the idle position of the joint 21 and operating on a control element 19 to de-energise the drive 12. When the drive 12 is an air cylinder or solenoid, the element 19 may be a venting valve or electric switch respectively. A tension spring 20 acts on the arm 10b to assist the closing action, and the drive 12 is preferably also operative during longitudinal displacement of the door 2 so that the rollers 4a, 4b bear without play against the rails 3 to effect quiet guiding.</p> |
