The brake prevents a loose ski (S) running away when released from the safety bindings. It has a pivot plate (4) on top, for a prong (1) each side. These are held out of engagement by a pedal, held down by the foot. This pedal is made from spring wire, having an open trapezoidal outer shape (6) and a continuous inner loop (9). The outer legs are fixed (7) to the prongs, the inner loop pivoting (10) forwards of these. When pressed down, the spring is tensioned. Releasing the pressure of the foot automatically returns the pedal to the upright position, engaging the prongs in the snow.
|
