Dyeing textile by advancing in closed path in dyeing chamber - by dye circulation and in which gas fills remainder of chamber

A loop of textile material is advanced in a closed path through dye in dyeing chamber, the material being advanced by the flow of dye through a nozzle into which dye is pumped e.g. through a valve from an outlet at the base of the chamber. The parts of the chamber and nozzle which are not filled with dye are filled with a gas (pref. air). In being pumped from the outlet to the nozzle the dye passes through a heat exchanger. A reduced quantity of dye is used, thereby reducing losses when changing from one dye to another and reducing the cost of dyeing.
