<p>The fire escape system comprises an endless cable loop, running over a braked pulley. This is fitted to a bar which can be suspended from a window opening. The endless loop has two chains fixed to it, each having a harness and a seat bar. One chair is on one side of the loop, at the top; the other chair is on the opposite side, at the bottom. The upper chair is occupied and descent is controlled by operating a braking clamp on the calbe loop. When at the bottom, the unoccupied chair is at the top, ready for use.</p> |
