The invention relates to a method and device for the preparation of fuels by means of a catalyst solution. According to the invention, the costs of raw iron production may be reduced and in particular the consumption of coke reduced, by means of an increase in the directly-fed coal dust and application of low-grade coal or petroleum coke, whereby a catalyst is injected in the form of a solution, which reduces the ignition temperature of the fuel, during the coal milling of coarse coal to give fine coal or coal dust.
