The suction nozzle is used to unload granulated bulk material from the hold of a cargo ship. To improve the efficiency of the suction nozzle when handling difficult material, the nozzle is attached to a remote-controlled tracked vehicle (1). The front end of the vehicle has a horizontal pair of counter-rotating conveyor screws (21). The are attached to vertically adjustable, hydraulically operated beams (19). The mobility of the vehicle allows the unloading of the cargo from all areas of the ship's hold. Radial teeth (24) fixed to the rotating conveyor screws help to break down any solidified bulk, thus improving its flow through the suction nozzle.
