Apparatus for fusing molten pipe ends has a fixed clamp on a support frame to retain a first molten pipe end, a movable clamp for supporting a second molten pipe end and mounted on guide rods which lie in a plane contg. the axes of the two pipe ends, and a hydraulic ram associated with each guide rod for moving the second pipe end into contact with the first. Pref. two movable clamps are provided and are connected by cylinders surrounding the guide rods which act as pistons. |
