PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CMOS image sensor, having a pixel circuit composition which will not lower signal output level of an amplifier to output electric charges accumulated in a photodiode as signals. SOLUTION: In this CMOS image sensor, one edge of a selection switch 7A is connected to a gate of an amplifying transistor 4A, and the other edge is connected to a grounding potential. When pixel signals are not outputted from the pixel 10A, the amplification transistor 4A will not operate by setting the gate at the grounding potential; and when pixel signals are outputted from the pixel 10A, the amplification transistor 4A operates by setting the gate at the potential of the potential-outputting signals.
