Reinforced mortar and concrete is made by mixing steel fibres with the mortar or concrete and magnetically aligning the fibres in a required orientation before the mortar or concrete sets.. Orientation is pref. effected with an oscillating magnetic field and the mortar or concrete may be separately vibrated during orientation. The prod. is used in pavements, cast coatings, concrete slabs, concrete panelling and shell construction. Alignment of the steel fibres improves the tensile, flexural and impact strength of the concrete.
