<p>Solid surfaces are washed and cleaned by using an aq. bath contg. finely divided dispersed water-insol. synthetic crystalline Al silicates having compsn. 0.7-1.1 Cat2/n.1 Al2O3.1.3-3.3 SiO2 (I) (where Cat is a Ca ion-exchangeable cation having valency n, esp. an alkali cation, partic. Na), as bonding agents for water-hardeners. Novelty consists of using (I) having rounded corners and edges (cpds.I'). Pref. >=80% (I') have particle size 8-0.01 (6-0.01)u, and (I') contain no particles >30mu. Use of (I'), in place of well-formed crystals of (I), accelerates ion exchange and improves washing power. (I') form a more stable suspension in treatment baths and are rinsed out more easily from machinery and articles. Use of (I') allows lowering P content of baths to 0.6 (0.3) g/l organic and/or inorganically bonded P. In an example, (I') contg. 0.99 Na2O. 1 Al2O3. 1.83 SiO2 4H2O was tested by washing cotton at 90 degrees C, without other additives. Washing power corresponded to that of Na5P3O10.</p> |
