Stroke adjustment on presses with two eccentric bushes - using a pair of locking bushes fitted with gear rings

Stroke adjustment on eccentric presses or stamping machines uses two connecting rods on eccentric bushes (1) loacted on a drive shaft. The ends of bushes (1) are fitted with a gear ring with external teeth used to adjust and lock the stroke. A bush (2) is keyed onto the drive shaft between bushes (1) and fitted with two gear rings with external teeth mating with internal gear teeth on an outer bush (3) which has further internal teeth mating with the teeth on bushes (1); bush (3) is moved axially in one direction so the stroke can be adjusted and is then moved in the opposite axial direction to lock the stroke. Accurate and parallel alignment of the punch stroke is obtd. This is very important when using progression tooling.
