The device improves the operational efficiency of a water type central heating system. The exhaust gas pipe (1) which convects the boiler (2) to the exhaust chimney, has an external cladding or jacket. The waste gas pipe (1) is exposed to a flow of water which passes through the external jacket. A pair of attachment pipes are provided by which water may be conducted into (4) or removed from (5) the jacket to the boiler and vice versa.
