1464826 Mining machines EDENVALE ENG WORKS (PTY) LTD 29 July 1975 [29 July 1974 23 Oct 1974] 31762/75 Heading E1F A rock drilling machine for mining thin veins of ore comprises a cylindrical body 22-24, a drive motor 16 reciprocable along the length of the body by rams 19, a core barrel 10 having a coring bit 11 at its foreward end and drivingly connected at its rearward end to the motor 16, locking shoes 26, 27 on the body for releasably anchoring the body in a cavity, locking shoes 20 on the motor 16 for releasably anchoring the motor in the cavity, and a flexible element leading from the body for conveying power to the machine. The drive motor 16 is mounted on a plate 18 slidably mounted on the guide rods 24 of the body. The core barrel 10 has reaming inserts 9, 12, the inserts 12 being impregnated with diamonds and being chamfered radially inwardly to form a frustoconical end to a core in the barrel. A ram 31 with radial, cam carrying arms is provided the cams acting on stems which extend radially inwardly from the shoes 26, 27, so that actuation of the ram causes radial movement of the shoes. The shoes 20 also have stems and are acted upon by a rotary cam ring actuated by a ram. The shoes 20, 26, 27 have inserts 21. By expansion and retraction of the shoes and the rams 19, the machine may be moved either forwardly or rearwardly along the cavity. A carriage mounted, launcher-receiver of the rock drilling machine is described. |
