<p>A path error detecting method for detecting an error of a communication path of a synchronous network by using an error-detecting code inserted in a first predetermined byte in an overhead of transmission information, wherein error-detecting code calculation in a predetermined range of the transmission information is carried out on the transmission side, the calculated error-detecting code is inserted in a second predetermined byre different from the first predetermined byte and transmitted, error-detecting code calculation in the predetermined range is carried out on the reception side, and the error-detecting code is compared with a second predetermined byte of the received transmission information, so as to thereby detect an error of the communication path between the transmission and reception sides. Therefore even if there is a redundant communication line in the communication line, any error only in the redundant communication line can be detected, and useless change of the redundant communication line due to an error that has occurred before the redundant communication line.</p> |
